Center for
conservation and restoration of cultural heritage

The Center for Conservation and Restoration was created in response to the need for the development of a modern and highly professional approach to the protection of cultural heritage and works of art through the improvement of the conservation and restoration profession in our region.

The initiative to form CKR was born following the vision of a leading, independent institution that would be dedicated to the protection and promotion of works of art and cultural heritage as a common good, through support for professional development and professional cooperation in the fields of conservation and restoration.

Contemporary trends and challenges in preserving cultural heritage from decay and oblivion require that this issue be approached in a systematic and highly professional manner, while raising awareness of the importance of this issue for cultural and social development. Therefore, since its establishment, the Center has nurtured and promoted the highest professional standards in the field of conservation and restoration and is also dedicated to improving the understanding of the importance of preserving cultural and artistic heritage in the wider public. The vision of CKR is that the status of cultural and artistic heritage – its preservation, protection and promotion – should be an inextricably linked to social development and well-being.

The Center for Conservation and Restoration convenes top experts with extensive experience in all disciplines of conservation and restoration, which gives us opportunities for all kinds of professional services, and a unique way of treating works of art and cultural property.

CKR’s primary areas of expertise include: paintings, icons, polychrome wood, frames and gilding, frescoes, stone, stone relief, objects and sculptures, wood, antiques, works of art on paper, old and rare books, photographs, textiles, metal, mosaic and stained glass.
